The Purpose of the Psychology Blog

Throughout most of my life I have always been fascinated by the way people behave and the motivation behind people’s behavior. During my high school years I would sit on a bench and watch other students interacting with one another and try to deduce the motivations behind the behaviors I was observing. But my fascination of people’s behavior quickly morphed into a fascination of people. I became interested in how people think and the thought processes a person may take to reach a particular decision, also I wanted to know more about the nature of mental illness and how a people could develop a mental illness without being aware of it. But the three most important things about people I wanted to learn was how do a person’s personality develops and how to identify different types of personalities and what makes a person a psychopath. Psychology has thought me  not only  tolerance, but understanding  towards people who are living with a mental defect but also tolerance and understanding towards people of all walks of life. The purpose of the Psychology blog is to help my readers, especially those with very little understanding of the field of psychology, to gain an understanding and a certain level of respect for the field of psychology.
Psychology is the study of the mind, the brain, and the behavior of human beings. On my blog I want to take my readers on a voyage through the different aspects of psychology that interest me and hopefully inspire the reader to want to learn more about an area of science that the majority of the general public has little understanding about. In the Psychology blog I want cover such topics like mental disease and examine particular mental illnesses like schizophrenia and depression. Then go into personality disorders and explain the differences between antisocial disorder and psychopathology and narcissistic personality disorder. Also discuss the different type of controversies that plague the field of psychology. For example the brain washing experiments carried out by the CIA during the Cold War. Finally I want to take the readers through the dark side of psychology and teach the readers that the tools that psychology gives a person can cause great calamity if used in the wrong way and also show my readers that psychology has a troubled past and was not always used to help people. I hope that my readers will enjoy this blog as much I will enjoy writing it and I look forward to our journey in to the realm of psychology that we will embark on this semester.
